Dear AIE Student,
Coronavirus We have noted the presidential address and calls for precautionary measures to fight the much-feared COVID-19 virus from all citizens of South Africa. We fully support this call and wish to do everything within our means to protect the health of our students and to play our part in contributing to a healthier country. As such, the following measures will be put in place during the coming days.
AIE Students:
The decision has been made to minimize foot traffic for all our campuses and full-time/part-time students starting from Wednesday, 18 March ’20. To accomplish this the following will occur:
AIE Operations and Staff:
Nothing is more important to us than the safety and health of our students and staff. For this reason, we wish to align our approach with staff as we have done for students, to minimize the risk of contact with both students and staff by minimizing physical presence on campus while maintaining our academic progress and integrity. The following measures have been put in place:
We are privileged to take such an innovative and unique approach. All the problems we have solved over the past few years led us to the technology that we implement in our students’ environment today to allow both our people and students flexible access while we continue to make sure operations continue unaffected.
Let us all contribute in the fight to get this virus under control. We urge you to practise all the guidelines as requested by the president.
Further to this, we want to request that watch the video in the link below, created by the AIE content team, as well as read the guidelines as to better familiarize yourself with the virus and actions you can take.
Precautionary Measures
Any person returning home from other countries is requested to remain in self-isolation for 14 days, from the date of their return to South Africa, to monitor any potential signs of the virus. If any of the symptoms appear, a doctor should be consulted. Should you suspect that you have contracted the virus, it is necessary to get tested.
The results of the pathology test can take up to 48 hours and they are free of charge.
Do not walk into any healthcare facility without notifying the ER team beforehand as this potentially exposes other individuals to the virus Not all confirmed cases require hospitalisation, sometimes just isolation at home.
