Virtual reality is an interactive computer-generated experience taking place within a simulated environment. It incorporates mainly auditory and visual feedback, but may also allow other types of sensory feedback like haptic.
This immersive environment can be similar to the real world or it can be fantastical.
The VR Lab explores the use of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality in the visualizing and presentation of design data. It further explores the use of this technology, in its current form, in our general education. This capability can enrich the educational experience not only by its application but also by the possibility to apply it on a large scale.
The lab offers the capability of generating highly accurate interactive simulation of the design to accurately visually simulate the impact of formal optimization processes and enhance the collaborative design process with the help of a fully immersive digital design environment.
The VR lab is not only a facility. It is also an innovative lab which provides students and researchers with an environment to explore , investigate and research the capabilities of the virtual
Augmented reality is the integration of digital information with the user's environment in real time.
Unlike virtual reality, which creates a totally artificial environment, augmented reality uses the existing environment and overlays new information on top of it.
The lab has a series of dedicated high end gaming computers to support more complex VR scenes. There are several HTC Vive VR sets to view your project in VR. The lab is made available to students and faculty for demonstration and research purposes.
To scale the VR experience and bring this experience to class, each student in the selected programs is issued a Goggles VR headset as part of their study kit. This headset uses smartphones and tablets to create educational VR experiences in the classroom.
